Learning Development VI
Learning and Development Visual Identity creation
A newly launched internal initiative needed a new visual identity designed to create interest in the new program. The client requested that the visual identity (VI) showcase different methodologies of learning while learning in your own environment (while cooking, eating lunch or walking the dog).
ROLE | Art Direction, illustration and design
Process
Teaming with another designer, two initial looks were crafted using the keywords that were given by the client in the consultation call. The focus of the concept would be learning at your own pace, in any type of environment, and with a focus on learning at home during the pandemic. They also expressed that there should be diversity in skin tones and gender throughout the final artwork.
Concept #1
Using space as a theme for the series, learning can be done anywhere in the universe. People were depicted completing learning at their own pace in various methodologies (reading, online course, etc).
Concept #2
Using fresh greens and blues, people are depicted in a background that is anywhere and everywhere, completing learning at their own pace in various methodologies. They are at home, walking in a park or sitting with their dog.
Refinement
The client narrowed down their focus to concept #2 and refined the main hero artwork to include a family learning environment. The additional supporting imagery would include people learning while cooking, sitting in bed, out for a run or while sitting on a couch talking to their elderly grandparent. The dotted line was modified throughout the image series to include additional icons symbolizing learning (mail, light bulb, gears, puzzle pieces and magnifying glass).
